About the Course:

JS Consultancy Services (www.jscs.af) and Uroj Shams Consultancy Services, has designed a five-day training to improve Proposal and Report writing skills in the workplace of NGOs.This course will focus on aspects that make proposals effective and successful and will introduce participants to best practices in proposal writing and help them to develop the knowledge and skills needed to improve their efficacy in writing, presenting and defending proposals. It will also cover report writing and will equip you with skills and techniques to write clear and engaging reports that encourage the reader to take action on your recommendations.

Course Format:

The course consists of interactive onsite lectures. The lectures will begin with the understanding of the key tools and concepts of sound financial practices, understand concepts of developing effective budgets, understand the use of financial reports, understating assessing the strengths weaknesses of your organization financial management systems. The participants will work in individually or small groups to practice different Proposal and Report writing skills during the five-day training.

Learning Outcomes:

The Proposal and Report writing training has set a number of learning objectives and at the end of the training the participants are intended to be able to;

· To understand different elements of proposals and reports: structure and components

· To understand the tools for planning and preparation

· To understand Formal and informal reporting

· To understand the purpose of the proposal and donor requirements

· To understand the essential Writing skills, including language, layout, format, structure, flow and finishing, Common mistakes and best practices

· Understanding of components of a proposal and organize them in a logical flow

· Understanding the different elements that makes proposals effective

· Understanding the use of different tools tools, such as the log frame, to design proposals with clear logic

· Understanding the adaptation of proposals to fit donor requirements, preferences and guidelines

· Understanding of writing clear proposals using appropriate language, layout, format, structure and Produce effective reports

· Understand to Identify Common problems in reporting, learning concepts and principles on writing reports and Tailor a report to a target audience

Training Materials:

The training materials, provided to participants during the training, are designed based on combination of theory and practice. The materials address some important aspects of Proposal and Report writing. The theory is strongly supported by credible books and websites. However, the practical side of the training involves real-life examples and exercises.

The materials present to participants will focus on aspects that make proposals effective and successful and will introduce participants to best practices in proposal writing and help them to develop the knowledge and skills needed to improve their efficacy in writing, presenting and defending proposals. It will also cover report writing and will equip you with skills and techniques to write clear and engaging reports that encourage the reader to take action on your recommendations.

Handouts: Ideally, all handouts are made available in hard copies so that they can be used by participants in their future design and delivery.

Exercises: A hard copy of exercises is also made available to complete the exercises; participants spend significant time working on exercises. Participants are providing not only with pens but also with pencils, flip charts, and an eraser to facilitate this process.

Resource: Along with hard copies of the training materials all materials are producing the flash disk of participants and distribute a copy of it to participants. The Flash disk includes the handouts, PowerPoint presentations, and exercises together with any additional training resources.

Slideshows: The training is guided by a PowerPoint presentation, which is divided into sessions. Slides are presenting using a projector. Participants are providing g with a copy of the slideshows at the end of the presentation.

Training Format:

All materials are made available through In-Class-Learning Approaches. Approximately 6 hours time commitment of your time per day. Daily feedback from committed instructors. Participants are expected to submit daily assignments to earn certificate of completion

5 Days - 6 hours per day; from 15thApril to 19thApril 2018.
